We have about 50 hormones in our body regulating everything, from our body temperature to our sleep pattern. Hormone production is genetically determined, though unhealthy daily habits can create hormonal imbalance.
Today we are exposed to more chemicals than ever before: from inhaling toxins from the polluted air to putting them on our bodies with our daily beauty products.
Hormones are the messengers of our body telling each cell if we are properly functioning. They are secreted by endocrine glands. When the glands don't function properly, hormonal imbalance is created.
One of the biggest causes of hormonal imbalance is stress. When we experience stress, our body starts to secrete cortisol, also known as the stress hormone. Prolonged secretion of cortisol leads to adrenal fatigue, thyroid problems and eventually depression.
A daily practice of these 7 yoga poses only takes 5 to 10 minutes of your time and will significantly lower your stress levels by stimulating the glands.
