Let me rephrase the question: Do you ever stop to think about your habits? Because once you know what your habits are, you found the answer to the first question ...
Our habits are what form our personality and define our future. Are you someone who watches TV every night or do you use those precious hours to learn something new and to become the best version of yourself?
The answer is : you stopped dreaming! To achieve anything in life, you first need a vision or a dream. Then you have to create a plan how you are going to achieve that goal. Thus enters the power of habit!
If you want to change who you are, start by consciously changing your daily habits until they become inconscious. According to the research results of Dr Philippa Lally, postdoctorate in Behaviour Science and Health, this process takes 18 to 254 days,on average 2 months, depending on the individual.
You could start by changing 1 bad habit at a time and once internalized, pick a new one you would like to improve.
I started by writing down some of my bad habits (staying in bed too long, postponing things I hate doing, drinking too much coffee, ... ) and tackeled them two at a time. I was pleasantely surprised of the positive benefits changing this small and seemingly 'not so bad' habits has on my everyday life. I have a lot less stress, more energy and feel compelled to improve myself every day.
If you are interested in changing your habits and thus your life,
I highly recommend this book which will walk you though the process step by step.
What habits would you like to change ? I'd love to read about it in the comments !
